Dr Pelle Envall, PhD Transport Studies, has 15 years experience as a consultant within transport-planning and research and development, both in Sweden and in the United Kingdom. Dr Envall’s key expertise lies in analysing metropolitan areas with the aim of formulating cost-effective infrastructure improvements for enhancing the modal share of public transport, walking and cycling. Other areas of study include bicycle parking improvements at public transport nodes and urban planning. He is a co-author of a handbook on cycle planning as well as a source book on transport and urban development. Presently he is the coordinator of the Swedish research program CyCity.

Michael Koucky, MSc Environmental Science, is a senior consultant in sustainable transport at Koucky & Partners AB. He has worked with sustainable transport and cycling for more than 15 years. He is the author of several handbooks in cycle planning, bicycle strategies and bicycle promotion, including “Increased cycling in cities and regions” for the Swedish Road Agency. Since 2008 he’s been a bicycle auditor for BYPAD. In addition, he has developed a public bicycle system concept for the City of Copenhagen and has extensive experience working with cycle tourism.

Dr Anna Niska (née Bergström), PhD Road Technology, has written a doctoral dissertation on winter maintenance of cycle paths, and is presently working as a researcher. She has 15 years of experience in research concerning the effects on cycling of road maintenance and operation including accident studies, effects on cycle flows, evaluations of winter maintenance methods, etc. At VTI she is leading an internal project charged with encouraging more interdisciplinary research related to cyclists and cycle paths.
